With the opening of our new restaurant location inside Whole Foods Market at The District in Tustin, we knew we had a unique opportunity to connect with the community in a new way as we introduced ourselves to savvy Whole Foods shoppers and local foodies. That’s why we were so excited to partner with Chef Yvon Goetz of neighboring restaurant (and beloved Tustin institution) The Winery to create a collaborative sandwich special for charity. Chef Yvon’s Charity Short Rib Truffle Sandwich debuted at our Grand Opening, and we were proud to donate 100% of proceeds from sales of the sandwich to the Tustin Public Schools Foundation!
The Tustin Public Schools Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been helping students in the Tustin community accomplish their educational dreams since 1989. Mobilizing their community volunteers, they fund programs and materials to enhance the educational experience of students at all of the Tustin Unified School District’s 28 schools. They have raised over $3 million for these schools to date, and Mendocino Farms is proud to have contributed $3690 from the sandwich fundraiser!
We couldn’t have done this without the support (and hungry stomachs!) of our amazing guests. The funds we raised together will be allocated to Beckman High School’s CubeSat program, helping the students achieve their goal of becoming the third high school in the world to successfully launch a nano-satellite into orbit!
The program was founded by Beckman High School junior Ryan Tung with the objective of incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathmatics) into students’ lives through the construction of CubeSats and open people’s minds to the importance of engineering and computer science.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our guests in the Tustin community for making this possible, and to the Tustin Public Schools Foundation and Beckman High School for the inspirational work they do!
